Jefferson County is a county in the State of Colorado of the United States. The United States Census Bureau estimates that the county population was 533,339 in 2008. The county seat is Golden.
History
Jefferson County was named for the namesake of the Jefferson Territory, Thomas Jefferson, the principal author of the Declaration of Independence and the nation's third president.
